Marino Vanhoenacker: Ironman Austria and the weeks after
(05.08.2010)First of all a last quick thought about the race itself: Ironman Klagenfurt: 1st in 7h52m05s. A superfast time with 3 steady legs: Swim 47 / Bike 4h18 / Run 2h42 + transitions. Maybe this was the fastest race of my life, and close to the perfect day but not 100% yet I believe, so who knows for the future? At the finish line I wass done, finished, finito, empty but 15 minutes later I felt quite ok. It was only the week after the race that I started to feel...more

Marino Vanhoenacker: "It would be great if the clock stops under eight hours."
(02.07.2010)Marino and Ironman Austria - both belong together. The Belgian said today: "Last year I almost finished under eight hours. Almost... It would be great if the clock stops under eight hours on Sunday. The phantastic fans in Klagenfurt would deserve such a show. You know, arriving here always makes me smile. Every time I love to see the lake again." And Hawaii? "In my opinion this race here has a lot of advantages compared to Hawaii. There's a wonderful landscape, the atmosphere is phantastic with thousands of fans around. In Hawaii, you often feel very lonely on the course. But Hawaii is still the most important race for us. So far I already had two top 10 results in Kona. So this year I'm only interested in finishing in front."

Marino about St. Pölten: "The guys were flying behind me."
(30.05.2010)Today was different from last year, instead of a close 2-men-race it turned out to be a 5-men-race with eventually big differnces. Bockel and Kuttor broke away on the swim and had about 35" to my group with McCormack, Ospaly and Raelert. We really had to push hard to bridge the gap to Bockel but finally managed to do so and rode together until km 80 with Bockel, Mc Cormack, Ospaly and myself.
Then I decided...more
