Marino Vanhoenacker was the star again at Ironman Austria. The Belgian athlete had to deal with high expectations and overfulfilled them. His fifth victory in a row at Ironman Austria was not a big surprise for his fans. But then he got closer and closer to the 13-year-old Ironman World Record of his compatriot Luc Van Lierde. In the end only 98 seconds were left to beat this record in a race of 7:52:05 hours.

Marino and Ironman Austria - both belong together. The Belgian said today: "Last year I almost finished under eight hours. Almost... It would be great if the clock stops under eight hours on Sunday. The phantastic fans in Klagenfurt would deserve such a show. You know, arriving here always makes me smile. Every time I love to see the lake again." And Hawaii? "In my opinion this race here has a lot of advantages compared to Hawaii. There's a wonderful landscape, the atmosphere is phantastic with thousands of fans around. In Hawaii, you often feel very lonely on the course. But Hawaii is still the most important race for us. So far I already had two top 10 results in Kona. 100 days left until Hawaii - Jan and Markus will fight for their tickets this weekend

The Countdown to Hawaii shows exactly 100 days today. For Timo and Marino this is not important yet because they are concentrating on defending their titles in Frankfurt and Klagenfurt this weekend. Jan and Markus still have to earn the tickets to the World Championship. Jan said yesterday: "Of course I would like to start in Hawaii again this year. Most athletes need several years of Hawaii experience until they are able to have a really good result.
