The double Hawaii Champion Normann Stadler was not lucky today at Challenge Roth. Because of a pulled muscle he had to quit the race after 130 kilometers on the bike. Stadler said: “That’s very hard for me as I had very good races so far this season. But I have to look ahead and will concentrate on Hawaii now.”more

It seems to be the strongest field at Challenge Roth ever: The double Hawaii Champion and Commerzbank athlete Normann Stadler is challenging the titleholder Michael Göhner as well as Eneko Llanos from Spain, the winner of Ironman Lanzarote and Abu Dhabi Triathlon 2010. Furthermore there are Rutger Beke and Rasmus Henning, two experienced triathletes with Top 10 Hawaii positions under their belt. We must not forget the German Sebastian Kienle. The 26-year-old looks back on several duels between him and Stadler over shorter triathlon distances.

With three World Championship titles in the triathlon and duathlon, a European Championship title and numerous other triumphs, the 37-year-old has nothing left to prove. Collision was fortunately not that bad

I was so sorry when I heard that an agegrouper fell down after I had overtaken him at Ironman Germany. The spectators were very close and there was not enough space for passing the agegroupers. So after the race I had a look over the film material and photos of the race. With the help of our team and "Hessischer Rundfunk" I was able to identify him and wrote and email. He was Canadian. I was happy when he answered and said that it was not that bad. He fell into the spectators who caught him so he didn't even touch the ground. Unfortunately he was not lucky...more
