Among the world-class athletes of the Ironman 70.3 European Championship, the long distance specialist Maik Twelsiek finished sixth today. First of all a last quick thought about the race itself: Ironman Klagenfurt: 1st in 7h52m05s. A superfast time with 3 steady legs: Swim 47 / Bike 4h18 / Run 2h42 + transitions. Maybe this was the fastest race of my life, and close to the perfect day but not 100% yet I believe, so who knows for the future? That was a hard day in Lake Placid and I had to fight for every meter. Last year I felt like flying over the course. But this year, my legs did not work like they used to do. Ben performed extremely well. I knew that he was good on the running course. So I tried to push hard on the bike. Maik Twelsiek finished third today at Ironman Lake Placid in 8:48:33 hours and was the second Commerzbank athlete to get on the podium this Sunday after the second place of Marino Vanhoenacker in Antwerp.
